GEORGIAN BAY

N I G H T

One of the wondrous aspects of the Bay is the size of the sky. Because of the absence of light pollution, the few trees, and the clarity of the air this is even more true at night. As anyone who has lain on their back, on the ground, outside the city, on a moonless night knows, a starry sky is one of life’s great experiences.

Capturing it photographically is another story. Capturing it in a way that creates context and relates it to place is another story again. I have found that despite my very limited success, the goal of documenting the night leads me back again and again to spend a night on the rocks in a tent. Hope springs eternal.
