I began this website with the intention of paying homage to the affection I feel for the landscape of eastern Georgian Bay through the photographs by which I have long attempted to document its beauty. As such things go, it has evolved into a record of some of my travels and visual obsessions.

Photography is one of the many ways in which we vainly struggle to express the ineffable - to capture the essence of things. As time passes I find that my primary photographic motivation lies in documenting my contact with special places and the creatures that inhabit them. I seek to illuminate them in some way - to attempt to make them more vivid.

While I have travelled all my life I don’t really see myself as a travel photographer. The things that capture me visually tend to be the same wherever I go. They seem to have become part of my visual vocabulary.

The site is a collection of galleries. Galleries of places I have been, of places I love, of various themes that I find interesting or evocative, and, of course, galleries of Georgian Bay. It is a work in progress.

My home page is a recent gallery which will change from time to time.

Thank you for visiting. Never stop exploring.
