Snake Island sits six km off the coast of eastern Georgian Bay at the level of Kilbear Provincial Park. Surrounded by shoals and shallow water and exposed on its western shore to the full fury of Georgian Bay winds, it is not an easy place to visit. I have been making a pilgrimage there yearly for most of the past sixty years. I never tire of it.
